Oregon requires state testing at the end of grades 3, 5, 8, and 10. We partner with BasicSkills to offer this testing at your convenience, and it is optional with our program.

Not only can you keep your charter, but under some conditions, you can submit an LOLC invoice to your public charter for reimbursement as an "educational expense". Please consult with the learning coach at your charter for specific qualifications. Our families are members of Fossil Learning Charter, ORCA, Summit Learning Charter, Baker Web Academy, and others.

We model our classrooms much like a traditional school, where you progress year after year with the same peers. We have licensed teachers and are not a co-op with parent instructors. Our classes cover all traditional subject matter and meet three days a week.

We pride ourselves on keeping class sizes small (10-15) to allow for lots of hands-on learning and projects. This also makes it possible for us to custom tailor curriculum and assignments to meet the needs of the individual as much as possible. We also take a monthly field trip (minus December) to take advantage of learning in our community. These can be recreational, educational, or service oriented, but always fun!

We appreciate a device free campus until junior high. Once in junior high, your child will have computer literacy classes and use a Chromebook (or similar device) for navigating homework assignments on Google Classroom from their teacher during class and on their "home days" (Tuesday and Friday). If your child has a phone (many do not) they are to be put away during class times.
-
All doors are promptly locked 5 minutes after the beginning of class. If you need to reach your child, please contact an administrator and we can coordinate with their teacher. You are always welcome to accompany your child to class before or after to view their work or just say hi. Many families stay for a few minutes after classes to participate in what the kids have affectionately named "stay-and-play". It has become a little bonus time with their friends.

Collaborative, honest, and straightforward. We're here to guide the process, bring ideas to the table, and keep things moving.

Our team leaves the child's health responsibility in the hands of the parents. How and when your child is immunized is a decision to be made between you as parents, and your child's physician. However, please note that in the event of any outbreak of a preventable disease, all inadequately vaccinated children (if applicable) will be asked to remain at home until the local clinical outbreak status has been removed

We follow the local school district's lead when deciding whether or not it is safe to hold class due to weather.
-
We do not formally take attendance but kindly notify us if you plan to be absent. Safety is a top priority, and we want to make sure everyone is always accounted for.

One of the many benefits of having a licensed teacher partner with you in overseeing your child's learning is that they regularly send home corrected or graded work. Formal quizzes and tests won't start until junior high. Our teenage learners have their grading and records kept in their individual google classrooms. We have found these scores to not only be a helpful snapshot of your child's progress but also serve as an important tool in accountability and for when and if you decide to apply to a high school later on. We have had students go on to both public and private high schools after their time with us as well as continue to homeschool throughout high school. We are so proud of all of their journeys and love watching them grow and make their place in the world!

We understand that brains need fuel! One of the wonderful things of homeschooling is the freedom of autonomy and kids are free to use the restroom as needed and have water bottles and snacks at their desk. Your teacher will make time for snacks as needed. We do have a kitchen area, but most classes choose to eat at their desks or outside.
-
No. Although we appreciate parent help for certain events and activities throughout the year, there is no formal requirement.
-
We want everyone that would like to, to experience the wonderful world of hybrid learning. If you would like a little help making that dream a reality, please feel out and submit our tuition help application if needed.
-
No. Your child is in great hands. Feel free to run errands or catch up on other needed tasks and we will see you at pick up time.
-
We have an open door. We are very proud of our teacher's relationship with our parents, and you are welcome to contact them or the director at any time to get your questions answered and have any concerns addressed.

Your teacher will send you a supply list a few weeks before classes start. This will also include any books needed for the year. Please contact administrators if you need help securing any supplies. We want you to have a great first day!
